"A bad day on the water is better than a good day at work!"
The Surrey town of Oxted, 40 miles from the nearest stretch of sea, is the last place you expect to find an offshore sailing club. However in 2001 Henry Moore, Lawrence Nicholls and Roger Cornish set up Oxted Offshore. The club meets at the Limpsfield Tennis Club each month on the second Wednesday of the month to discuss all aspects of sailing.
Many of the members have their own boats so the meeting provides a good forum for skippers to find crew and crew to find someone to sail with. The club also arranges various events including rallies for members (the last one at Gins Farm in the Beaulieu River had nine boats from the club), and has in the past charters boats for participation in such events as the Round the Island Race.

The club also charters boats such as Lutine, the Lloyds Yacht Club's yacht, for various sailing trips.
